Animal Protection Intern at Wildlife Refuge

The Amazon jungle is calling you, where dozens of birds, mammals, reptiles, and other animals live in a protected area. Most of the animals were found injured or come from inhospitable locations. As an intern, you’ll help care for the animals by feeding them and cleaning their habitats, as well as helping the staff maintain the refuge and facilitate the release and readaptation process.

Wildlife Protection Intern at National Park

Help to safeguard the marine wildlife of this national park. Accompany staff on responses to emergency calls, assist in rescues and releases, participate in veterinary and scientific research, and clean and feed the rescue animals while they are in recovery. You’ll be an integral part of preserving and restoring the natural and unique species of Ecuador!

Plant Research Assistant at Botanical Gardens

Spend a semester working in a stunning botanical garden. You’ll help with research, restoration, conservation, and documentation of many plant species, including trees, orchids, and medicinal and edible plants. Ecuador has more plant species than all of North America, which means you’ll spot plants that you’ve never seen before!

Rehabilitation Assistant at a Local Bird Rehabilitation Center

Interns in this position will help feed, treat, medicate, house and re-home injured and abandoned birds. The role consists of everything from cleaning aviaries and pens to making up medications and medicating birds. Full training given on site and interns will be taken through and complete a training manual specific to the facility.

Animal Caregiver at a Local Animal Shelter

An intern in this placement can expect to assist with triage of incoming animals to the shelter as well as assisting with a private veterinary practice that cares for privately-owned animals within the shelter. This is a great placement for someone looking to gain experience working with a number of different specials or in veterinary training.

Marine Biology Intern at a Marine Conservation Agency

Work with an agency which focuses on marine conservation off the coast of Vietnam. Interns will learn a variety of skills that includes non-profit management, conservation fieldwork, marine biology laboratory techniques, etc.

Intern at an Agricultural Health Organization

Work in coordination with Vietnamese government agencies and project partners to plan and implement wildlife disease surveillance and research at the human/wildlife/domestic animal interface. You will help ensure efficient and accurate organization of documentation and finances for wildlife health projects.

Agronomy Intern at a Development & Investment Firm

Work for a company that specializes in researching and applying technical sciences in agriculture throughout Vietnam. Responsibilities include performing regular field checks, monitoring soil moisture, and monitoring insect, weed & disease figures. Interns may also assist with equipment calibration and generating field reports.
