Starting in the “Land of Smiles,” we’ll visit our partner, Mahidol University International College (MUIC), home of our Semester in Thailand and Summer in Thailand programs. You will explore the city of Salaya, where MUIC is based. Salaya offers great access to Bangkok, but is a respite from the everyday hectic life in the big city. Participants will learn about academic offerings as well as internship placement fields and have a chance to explore the welcoming Thai culture and its many temples.
Next, you’ll head to Ho Chi Minh City, centrally located in Southeast Asia, and one of Vietnam’s key cultural, trading, and education hubs. Get to know the city formerly known as Saigon, which played a pivotal role in the Vietnam War (or as Vietnamese call it, the American War), and see the French influence firsthand in its wide boulevards and architecture. Participants will visit RMIT University Vietnam, South Saigon campus, an Asian campus of Melbourne-based university RMIT, which is Australia’s biggest university. Established in 2000, RMIT was the first international university in Vietnam. RMIT Vietnam’s campus is a purpose-built, contemporary educational facility with comparable standards to many U.S. campuses and is home to more than 5,000 students, primarily Vietnamese. RMIT University Vietnam, with its diverse academic offerings, is home to CISabroad’s Semester in Vietnam and Summer in Vietnam programs. Participants will also get an overview of CISabroad’s Intern in Vietnam program and visit a few placements.
Students have tons of great course options taught in English in the fields of Health Science, Science and Technology, and Social Science and Humanities. Internship Placement fields are available in Education, Environmental and Sustainability Studies, Health, NGOs and Non-Profit, and more.
Watch the video below to learn more about David Jackson, our Thailand Site Director, and why he loves connecting students to Thai people and Thai culture. A semester, summer, or internship in Thailand is a great fit for students embarking on their first experience abroad. Thailand is also a great location for custom programs related to NGOs, political science, finance, community tourism, health, education, LGBTQ studies, and more.
Semester students select coursework from areas such as Business, Economics, Finance, Management, Computer Science and IT, Design, Fashion, and Engineering. All students enroll in Culture and Context in Vietnam, an exploratory course designed to introduce students to Vietnam’s history, culture, and society. Summer students take one course (3 credits) in Photography, Fashion, Innovation, or Architecture. Internship placements are available in a wide range of fields from Architecture, Engineering, Biology & Ecology to Fashion, IT & Computer Systems, Social Work, and more!

Kyoto’s beauty and intrigue, which is home to an astonishing seventeen UNESCO World Heritage Sites, combined with its young vibe (college students comprise 10% of the city’s population) make our Semester in Japan Program irresistible. Students study at the Kyoto University of Foreign Studies, which has a strong focus on Japanese language and culture, and you’ll get a taste for campus life, academic environment, and student apartment living. In addition to seeing temples mixed among skyscrapers, you’ll fuel up on the best sushi of your life as we take in this small but grand island nation.
From here we head to Tokyo, home of our semester program, aboard one of the famed Japanese high-speed bullet trains! Here, you’ll explore the fast-paced and influential city and learn more about our summer and January term partner, Seisen University. Imagine yourself as a student as we walk through the university’s private hilltop campus, which sits on the grounds of a former Samurai Mansion. It is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet downtown Tokyo neighborhoods are easily accessible. Bilingual Japanese professors, staff, and students will welcome us and you will learn about Seisen’s internationally focused curriculum, campus community, and housing.
