CIS Abroad Response to COVID-19. Updates here.

School of Record Relationships

CIS Abroad has two School of Record (SOR) relationships: one with Jacksonville University and one with Plymouth State University. Each provides us with the flexibility to meet participants and US university partner needs when a US transcript is required for transfer of credit.

Jacksonville University

Through our partnership with Jacksonville University, CIS Abroad students requiring a transcript from a US university can receive one for many of our programs. In order to determine if a program is eligible for a Jacksonville University transcript, participants must inform a CIS Abroad program coordinator during the application process so that they can apply to JU as a transient student before their term abroad. After completion of the program abroad, JU will review the student’s official transcript from the host institution. Then, a US transcript, reflecting the US grade translations of their courses from abroad, will be awarded. JU charges per credit for this service. Course credit is listed as transfer credit on the JU transcript. JU charges per credit for this service. Course credit is listed as transfer credit on the Jacksonville University transcript.

Exceptions: CIS Abroad programs at the Barcelona School for International Studies and the Sant’Anna Institute include a JU transcript. Students who participate in programs at either of these locations receive a transcript reflecting JU specific course codes.
