Why CIS Abroad for Customized Intern Abroad Programs?
As US universities work to internationalize their curriculum, many educators are seeking to identify programs that closely align with the needs of various departments on campus. Additionally, students are increasingly looking to gain career experience and exposure prior to graduating. CIS Abroad can help you to develop a custom program that allows you to control the academic and experiential components so that students can fulfill meaningful coursework in their major and minor fields. Plugging into our existing program infrastructure, but making it your own, means you don’t have to build a program from scratch! The result is a quality program that’s a good fit for your students.

Customized Summer Internship in Multiple Destinations
Designed in close collaboration with the Department of Communication and Journalism, these eight week internships carry major specific credit. Internships are designed to provide professional experience and allow integration of the on-site work experience with the skills and theories learned in the classroom. Locations of placements include: San Jose, Costa Rica; London, England; and Rome, Italy.
Customized Summer Internships in Sydney, Australia
CIS Abroad worked closely with the Study Abroad Office and the Department of Engineering to design these six week customized placements that match their students experiences, career goals, interests and skills. Interns earn up to six credits while working in companies that specialize in Environmental Science, Urban & Design, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, Food, and the Business of Engineering.
Customized Semester Internships in Multiple Destinations
Designed with the Dean of International Education, CIS Abroad developed this rolling admissions internship program that carries full credit for a semester-long experience. Coupled with language classes when desired, all majors can spend a term earning 12 or 15 credits and working in Australia, China, Costa Rica, Ireland, or South Africa. Excursions and special events included.
University of Texas - Austin
Customized Summer Internships in Barcelona
The Business and Engineering departments helped design this innovative experience to meet the credit and career needs of their majors. Six and nine week options are available to all majors within these departments, and some English-only placements are available. Spanish language courses, excursions, and a weekly cultural agenda complement the rigorous placements.
When venturing into uncharted territory, or a new destination for your university, there is a lot of initial work involved to ensure program quality and student safety. Plugging into an existing CIS Abroad program location allows you to expand your offerings without needing additional resources. Custom program options are available in locations in which CIS Abroad currently operates semester, summer, or january programs.
