ARGENTINA
UNIVERSIDAD DEL BELGRANO
Key dates:
- March 25: Online learning option becomes available to all students. Students receive access to UB Virtual Campus.
- March 19: Registration deadline for all students (virtual and face to face).
- March 30 (tent.): Face to face classes set to resume for those still in-country.
Instructional process:
- While classes will continue in person, students enrolled in the PEAL/PALAS program who elect to return to the U.S. will be provided the opportunity to continue their coursework online.
Students will be provided with a username and password for the online learning platform UB Virtual Campus (Moodle). If a student has not received this information by March 26, she/he must email peal.palas@ub.edu.ar for further assistance.
INTERNSHIPS IN ARGENTINA
Interns will be able to finish their internships remotely as companies in Argentina are asking all of their employees to work from home for the time being. Should/when this situation changes and employees are allow to return to their offices, affected interns can resume their internships on-site.
AUSTRALIA
BOND UNIVERSITY
Key dates:
- March 17-20: Classes conducted as scheduled
- March 23: Classes conducted as scheduled, with remote delivery of classes being an option
- March 27: All classes end for the semester (new end date)
- April 3-9: Final exam week (revised dates)
Instructional Process:
- The University will offer classes the week of March 23 through the end of the term remotely via the platform Collaborate, available through individual subject iLearn sites. This will allow students who have returned home, and students who are either unable to attend or do not wish to attend campus, to participate with minimal disruption.
- Dates for final exams have been moved up by one week. On-campus examinations will be replaced with other forms of assessment.
- Students are asked to remain in regular contact with their teachers and lecturers.
Students should consult the University website for updates.
JAMES COOK UNIVERSITY
Key dates:
- ASAP: monitor email account for further instructions and respond immediately.
Instructional process:
- Many (though not all) courses will be available via remote delivery.
- Students should monitor their JCU email account for information on which of their courses can be taught online, and what they need to do to confirm their intent to remain enrolled. Should students decide to remain enrolled (i.e. not withdraw from the semester), their enrollment will be transitioned to “external” (online.)
LA TROBE UNIVERSITY
Key dates:
- March 17-23: Face to face teaching on campus is paused while transitioning to online delivery
- March 24: all teaching will resume online, where possible
Instructional Process:
- From Tuesday 24 March onward, classes will be taught online via LMS where possible. During the teaching pause, all placement activities and subjects already delivered fully online will continue as normal.
- Subject coordinators are working to limit the requirement for students to come to campus and to develop additional resources to support student learning. La Trobe staff are mapping each study abroad student’s subject availability online to ascertain what additional support measures are required.
- Students are asked to consult their LMS subject sites regularly for subject updates, information and instructions.
Students should consult the University website for additional updates.
MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY
Key dates:
- March 18: Face to face teaching is paused from this date forward
- March 30 (Sydney time): Deadline for returning students to complete the MQ survey regarding their continuation plans
- March 30: Teaching resumes in online learning format wherever possible*
- April 13-26: Previous break cancelled and will now be part of the normal study period
Instructional Process:
- *Some units (classes), particularly those requiring face-to-face interaction (e.g. laboratory session, field trips, etc.) will not be available online. Alternative arrangements are being considered for these units.
- Students returning home are asked to stay enrolled in their units and make sure to check their MQ email for advice about online delivery of their units. Students should be able to complete their studies from home.
- The Macquarie Abroad team hosted webinars for study abroad and exchange students to answer questions about the current situation. Students can review them here.
The University will keep students updated via their MQ email. Students should check their MQ email regularly, and also consult the University website for additional updates.
UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
Key dates:
- March 30 onward: all lectures, tutorials, classes and seminars will continue online until the end of Semester 1
- April 6-19: mid semester break (extended dates)
Instructional process:

- Specific arrangements for specialist classes, practical classes, performances and design studios will vary from subject to subject.
- If a course is offered remotely, the assessment will also be offered remotely.
- Staff are working to make arrangements ensuring that all learning outcomes for classes originally scheduled for the week of 6 April are covered as part of students’ remaining classes this semester. In some instances, this may include catch up classes.
- Course and subject coordinators will communicate details regarding any changes to lectures or seminars and technology access to students via the LMS. Students should consult the LMS information regularly
- Students are asked to regularly check their student email and the student advice and support section linked here. If you require further assistance, please contact Stop 1.
Students should first check for updates from their subject coordinator via the LMS, then consult the University website for additional updates.
UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE
Key dates:
- As of March 19, classes are continuing as normal. Lectures are being recorded so students can view them online.
Instructional Process:
- The international office staff is assisting any students who are returning home on a case-by-case basis, to help with continuation of their program at UoN. Students must inform the office of their return at study-abroad@newcastle.edu.au
- If a course has an online version, students will be moved into that course section.
- If a course does not have an online version, each School is being contacted to let them know which students are returning so that the course coordinators can get in touch with the student with accommodations they can make.
- Students are advised to maintain regular contact with their professors/course coordinators for further information.
Students should consult the University website for additional updates.
UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY
Key dates:
- March 23: From this date forward, there will be no face to face teaching on campus.*
- March 31 (Sydney time): Withdraw deadline for classes/labs/workshops not able to be delivered online.
Instructional process:
- All teaching and learning (including exams) will be delivered online. *The only exception is for a handful of workshop-based units, which are expected to continue face-to-face teaching with social distancing and health precautions in place. Please refer to the University of Sydney COVID-19 webpage for a list of these units.
- *Students returning to the US who are currently enrolled in a unit that is not moving to be delivered entirely online (or is deferring their lab/studio to later in the semester) will need to withdraw from the unit no later than the census date, Tuesday 31st March 2020 (Sydney time).
- Before students make any decisions regarding potential variations to their enrolment (including withdrawal from units), they should check their USYD Canvas portal and USYD student email (particularly between now and 23rd March) for confirmation of any updates to teaching arrangements in place for their specific units.
- ARTS2600 – Internship Unit: the course-work component of ARTS2600 will be moved entirely online. If you are currently enrolled in this course, please contact the U Syd Internship Coordinator, Honey Abbott (honey.abbott@sydney.edu.au) who is managing each situation on a case by case basis.
- Students should contact their Sydney Abroad Adviser via email with any questions regarding enrolment variation requests.
- Students are advised to maintain regular contact with their professors for further information.

COSTA RICA
UNIVERSIDAD VERITAS
Key Dates:
- March 17: All elective classes for study abroad students will continue virtually
- March 28: 12 week term ends (no change)
Instructional Process:
- Using the CANVAS LMS, students are able to connect to their courses remotely at their normally scheduled times, based on local time in Costa Rica. Students should consult with their individual instructors for more detail.
- Students in elective classes should be in contact with their professors to make arrangements to finish their assignments remotely. Professors have adapted rubrics, scheduled web conferences as needed, and arranged to have final projects submitted through the portal.
- Spanish intensive courses cannot be offered remotely given the intensive nature of the course and the way in which it is graded and assessed. For the March Spanish language courses, professors will be assigning the grade received with the accumulative work done up until 3-16-20. Veritas will provide a letter with the transcript for each student explaining the percentage of the course covered; students’ home universities can then assess and decide the amount of credit that can be awarded for content covered to date.
CZECH REPUBLIC
CHARLES UNIVERSITY
Key Dates:
- March 11: All regular face-to-face classes have been discontinued.
- March 16: All classes resume in an online format.
Instructional Process:
- Teaching will follow the official ECES class schedule in the CET time zone. Recordings of all sessions will be saved in the cloud using the Zoom platform, which is the platform Charles University will use moving forward.
- Students were sent an email Friday, March 13 with explicit instructions and links to the Zoom sessions for each of their classes. Students should review this email for detailed information regarding access to lectures, attendance monitoring, etc.
- Individual exams are continuing without change.
- Students are asked to remain in regular contact with their teachers and lecturers.
Students should consult the Charles University website for additional updates.
UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS, PRAGUE
Key dates:
- March 11: From this date until further notice, in-person classes on the University of Economics campus have been cancelled.
- On/Around March 29: Students will receive further information regarding final exams.
Instructional process:
- Students will be able to complete their coursework online. Study materials will be stored on the CESP website. Submissions of required homework and cases will be done according to lecturers’ requirements. Students should be in contact with their professors regarding assignments, the process for submitting their work, and deadlines/due dates.
- All other detailed information concerning final examinations will be announced after the University resumes teaching activities on or around March 29.
ENGLAND
UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL
Key Dates:
- March 18: last day of face to face lectures, tutorials and seminars (rather than March 27) prior to the Easter break
- March 19-April 19: Easter break
- April 20: term resumes following Easter holiday break
Instructional Process:
- As of now, the University is currently open and classes are running as normal in line with official guidance.
- Teaching starts again on 20 April in line with the University’s normal term arrangements.
- Students should be in contact with their professors/tutors with class-specific questions.
Students should consulate the University’s Coronavirus: advice for students and staff page for updates.
UNIVERSITY OF ROEHAMPTON
Key dates:
- March 18 (approx.): Uof R moves all learning, teaching and assessment online until future notice.
Instructional Process:
- All scheduled activity, including lectures, seminars, tutorials and assessments on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 March 2020 are postponed and will be re-scheduled.
- The University will endeavour to support study abroad students who return home academically. More information will be provided on or around March 18, including on how the University will implement study plans and address assessment.
- Your Module Convenor or Programme Convenor will be in touch about re-scheduled activity and how your learning, teaching and assessment will take place going forwards.
- The specific arrangements for assessments are still being finalised and will be communicated shortly; exams scheduled for the April/May assessment period will not be undertaken on campus
Students are advised to check the U of Roehampton website and their U of Roehampton email for updates and notices.
UNIVERSITY OF WESTMINSTER
Key dates:
- March 18: all teaching and assessment will move online
- May 19: any “Mitigating Circumstances Claim” must be submitted
Instructional Process:
- Students will be allowed to continue their studies remotely. They should check Blackboard for details of online teaching arrangements for their classes.
- All upcoming assessments will be completed online. The way students were to originally be assessed may have changed. Students must check each of their modules on Blackboard to check the latest module information.
- Alternative arrangements will be made for assessments and exams where online arrangements are not possible. Further details will be communicated by course leaders or module leaders.
- Final assessment will be rescheduled during the deferral period which currently runs from 29 June to 10 July 2020 for all students. Students who returned to the US will still be able to complete their assessment from abroad.
- Students are directed to continue to use their Westminster email to communicate with lecturers and staff at the University during this period. Important updates will be sent to this email address.
- Missed assignments: students who may have left before the university moved to online teaching and may have missed an assessment. Students for whom this applies must complete a mitigating circumstances claim. Please consult the email sent to students on March 20 for detailed instructions on how to complete this claim.

FRANCE
INSTITUT AMÉRICAIN UNIVERSITAIRE
Key dates:
- March 16: In person classes suspended.
- March 25: Deadline for completing mid-terms remotely
- March 30: IAU officially resumes classes remotely.
Instructional process:
- IAU will move to 100% remote teaching for the remainder of the term.
- IAU is adjusting the academic schedule for midterm exams and implementing a system for taking exams remotely. Anyone who needs to take a remote midterm will be contacted by their professors with instructions.
- Students are asked to complete as soon as possible the Remote Completion Request distributed to all students on March 12 in order to facilitate the remote learning process.
- Classes will officially resume remotely starting Monday, March 30. Professors may begin contacting students about how they will organize courses and assignments starting March 23, but coursework should normally start on March 30.
- Students should maintain regular contact with their professors for updates and additional information.
INSTITUT CATHOLIQUE DE PARIS
Key dates:
- March 16: Face to face classes are cancelled until further notice.
Instructional process:
- The Catholic University of Paris will make every effort to ensure the continuity of its teaching based on the distance learning tools that it is equipped with; Online resources and the Digital Workspace (ENT) remain accessible.
- Information concerning the organization of teaching will be given on Moodle. Students should regularly check their Moodle account.
- Students should maintain regular contact with their professors for updates and additional information.
Students may also consult the University’s NEWS webpage for updates.
PARIS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS
Key dates:
- March 16: In person classes suspended.
Instructional Process:
- From March 16 onwards, courses will be held via a distance learning format. Students will receive web links from PSB to arrange for them to attend courses remotely.
- Students will be sent a questionnaire in order to confirm that they have returned home and will take their courses online.
- An alternative solution will be proposed so that students will be able to take the exam in their home country. More information on this is forthcoming.
GREECE
HELLENIC AMERICAN UNIVERSITY
Key dates:
- March 10: face to face classes were suspended for the next 14 days on campus.
Instructional Process:
- All face to face classes will be switched to online courses and delivered synchronously via video conference (using Skype and TEAMS) and by expanding on the current use of the e-learning platform, Blackboard.
- HAU will allow study abroad students to continue their courses online. A representative from HAU will be in touch directly with departing students to provide further instructions on completing their coursework remotely.
IRELAND
DUBLIN CITY UNIVERSITY
Key dates:
- March 13-29: In person classes, tutorials and lab classes are suspended and replaced by on-line delivery.
- March 16: Online delivery of academic programs begins
Instructional Process:
- UCD will move to online delivery of classes for all students during the temporary closure period.
- More information will be communicated to students in relation to alternative assessment.
- For those taking HMSAO modules, please be advised that modules which previously had an exam element will now be 100% continuous assessment, you will not have a final exam. Please monitor your Loop accounts for information from your lecturers.
- If students elect to return home, appropriate academic arrangements will be put in place so that they can complete their coursework.
- The University will continue to monitor the situation closely and further updates will be provided on a regular basis via the DCU website
- Students can find additional resources to help them manage online coursework, and learn how to maximize their learning during this time on the University’s Student Support and Development website
UNIVERSITY OF LIMERICK
Key dates:
- March 13 – 29: In person classes are suspended and replaced by on-line delivery.
Instructional Process:
- UL will move to on-line delivery of teaching and assessment for all students during this temporary closure period. Students who elect to return to the U.S. will be able to complete their classes online.
- Students will be advised individually about alternative arrangements for their academic programme.
- Should students elect to return to the U.S., it is important to note that there is no official policy yet regarding final exams. However, UL assures that online exams or similar will be offered to any student who decides to return to the U.S.
ITALY
THE AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF ROME
Key Dates:
- Week of March 9: Students will receive details directly from AUR Regarding the Remote Learning Plan
- March 15 – Deadline for Enrollment Confirmation Form to be completed
- March 23 – Restart of Classes
- May 12 – End of term (has not changed)
- *Note: Classes missed due to the closure and the early departure of study abroad students will be made up on Fridays for the duration of the term
Instructional process:
- Students will be able to fulfill the course requirements remotely for most classes. The exception will be select hands-on courses, including: AHFA 228, ART 101, ART 103, ART212, ART 215, ART 302, ART 315, FAPS 210, FDM 101, FDM 105, FDM 205, FDM 303, FDM 307, and FDM 407. All students in the FDM and Fine Arts courses that can’t be offered remotely have already been recorded for the 1 credits P/F, if they were eligible.
- Students in the above classes will receive further instruction on available alternatives.
- An online “Enrollment Confirmation form” will be sent to students whereby they have to indicate, for each course they are currently in, how they want to continue according to the options provided in the Remote Learning Plan. The form needs to be submitted by Sunday, March 15.
FLORENCE UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS
Key dates:
March 9: Remote Program Completion begins.
Instructional Process:
- Students should have already submitted the Remote Program Completion form through the FUA Admissions Office.
- The Remote Completion Guidelines document will be uploaded on My FUA beginning Monday, March 9th. Students should consult this document for further detail and instructions.
ISI FLORENCE
Key dates:
- Monday, March 16 – all remote classes begin
- May 8 – last day of ISI Florence courses for spring semester. All work by students (including final exams and final papers) must be completed by this date.
Instructional process:
- Remote learning guides have been created to outline ISI Florence’s procedures, policies, and methods used to deliver the course content. They include the Guide for Students and Parents: Remote Learning for Spring 2020
- Students should consult this Guide for detailed instructions regarding course delivery.
- ISI will complete all courses remotely in a manner which they feel is as valid as if the courses had continued in-class on-site in Italy, and submit final grade reports for all students at the end of the current semester.
SANT’ANNA INSTITUTE (SORRENTO)
Key dates:
- March 9th: Students will resume their studies remotely
- April 20-24: Final exams
- April 24: End of the Spring Semester
Instructional Process:
- All classes have been converted to online delivery using the Blackboard Platform. Students have been sent the credentials needed to access Blackboard in order to start their online courses.
- Professors have emailed students to make sure that all of them received the information they needed to start online coursework. All the materials (lessons, assignments, deadlines, and grades) are/will be posted on Blackboard.
UMBRA INSTITUTE (Perugia)
Key dates:
- Week of Monday, March 9: All students will be informed directly by the Umbra Institute regarding the format for online continuation of their courses
- Monday, March 16: Online classes will recommence
- April 30: Classes will finish
Instructional Process
- Professors at The Umbra Institute will be continuing their courses online so that all their students receive academic credit for the Spring 2020 semester.
- Students should consult the Remote Learning Guide for detailed instructions regarding course delivery.
INTERNSHIPS IN ITALY
Florence: Students completing internships for credit in Florence should be in contact with their assigned FUA-AUF supervisor and complete professionalizing projects and tasks according to the placement field. Students will be guided through tasks by academic mentors and facilitators.
Rome: Students will work with the site director and their internship supervisor to make arrangements for remote completion of their internship assignment.
Sorrento: depending on projects, students are able to continue working on their projects remotely, if possible, or complete the necessary hours via independent study. Students should work with Emily Hammeren, Internship Advisor at Sant’Anna, directly to coordinate these arrangements.
PERU
UNIVERSIDAD IGNACIO DE SAN LOYOLA
Key Dates:
- March 15: Face to face classes are canceled.
- March 23-30: all courses will be transitioned online
- March 30: classes will continue to be delivered online for returned study abroad students
Instructional Process
- USIL will continue to deliver classes online for returned study abroad students so they can finish their semester from home and so that their academic progress will not be affected.
- Students should be in contact with their professors as well as the director and academic coordinator in Cusco for further instructions.
SCOTLAND
EDINBURGH NAPIER UNIVERSITY
Key Dates:
- March 17: Face to face teaching will end at close of Tuesday, March 17.
- March 23: All teaching will be done online, remotely
- April 27: Exam period begins with remote assessment
Instructional process:
- Beginning Monday, March 23 all teaching will be done online, remotely. All face to face teaching will end at the end of the day on Tuesday, March 17 with a few exceptions where specific course activity can’t be conducted remotely.
- All assessments and final exams will be conducted online, or they will be delivered in an alternative formate, remotely.
- Students should consulate the ENU website for further details and updates and be in contact with their professors for individual course information.
UNIVERSITY OF STIRLING
Key Dates:
- March 13: University temporarily suspends all face to face teaching and exams.
- April 1: End of term
Instructional Process:
- Classes and exams will now be administered online or by other methods.
- Returning students will continue to have access to Canvas and all relevant learning materials.
- The University is working to deliver module content online to enable students to complete the module content by the end of term
- If alternative assessments are required for students to complete their modules, the University will communicate that with students as more information becomes available
- Returning students are to refer to the email from the University dated March 12 and provide the information requested to the Stirling University study abroad office ASAP.
- Students should continue to check their email and their U of Stirling online portal for updates from the University and their professors. Additional updates can be found on the U of Stirling website.
SOUTH AFRCIA
STELLENBOSCH UNIVERSITY
Key dates:
- March 17: all lectures and assessments suspended
- March 18: Recess period between the two first terms of 2020 will begin
- March 30: second term of 2020 begins via online instruction.
Instructional process:
- Students will be able to complete their courses online, with some exceptions. The format and extent of the online teaching still needs to be confirmed by University administration.
- Students will be able to complete their courses online, with some exceptions.
- Students should regularly check their email for updates
Students should consulate the Stellenbosch University website for further details and updates and be in contact with their professors for individual course information.
SPAIN
BARCELONA SCHOOL FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDIES
Key dates:
- March 16: From this date onward, SIS in-person classes will be suspended.
Instructional process:
- Students will have readings, materials and presentations available both in Blackboard and the SIS Virtual Campus.
- Students should make sure that their Jacksonville University account is activated and that they can access Blackboard.
- Students should consult the SIS Protocol section of the Barcelona Online Student Guide for detailed instructions and additional information.
UNIVERSIDAD DE NEBRIJA
Key dates:
- March 16: remote classes begin and will continue online for the duration of the semester.
Instructional Process
- Instructors will be sending clear instructions on assignments, readings, virtual classes and midterms to students via Blackboard. Students should check their Nebrija email and Virtual Campus to keep updated and e-mail their instructors should they have any questions.
- Mid-term exam: Each teacher will let students know how they will proceed. They may postpone it, merge it with the final, replace it with a project, etc.
UNIVERSITAT AUTÓNOMA DE BARCELONA
Key dates:
- March 13: From this date onward, UAB courses will switch to an online format for the remainder of the term.
Instructional Process:
- Professors will contact students with instructions for the activities and assessment they will be required to complete. Students who successfully complete the required coursework and assessment will be awarded full credit for the course and certificates will be issued as normal
- Students should consult the UAB Protocol section of the Barcelona Online Student Guide for detailed instructions and additional information.
UNIVERSITAT POMPEU FABRA
Key dates:
- March 16: From this date onward, UPF courses will switch to an online format for the remainder of the term.
Instructional Process:
- Professors will communicate course materials, assignments, and the final exam using the Aula Global for HESP and ESCI track students.
- Students must complete the UPF Early Departure Questionnaire (provided by UPF) and communicate with their professors.
- Students should consult the UPF Protocol section of the Barcelona Online Student Guide for detailed instructions and additional information.
UNIVERSITAT DE BARCELONA
Key Dates:
- In person classes suspended immediately
Instructional Process:
- Students in the UB Estudios Hispanicos program are instructed to utilize the Virtual Campus platform to complete coursework.
- Students should consult the UB Protocol section of the Barcelona Online Student Guide for detailed instructions and additional information.
THAILAND
MAHIDOL UNIVERSITY
Key dates:
- March 16-20: On-campus teaching and learning activities are suspended.
- March 20 onward: classes taught remotely with all finals held online
- Week 12 and Week 13 will remain the final examination weeks.
Instructional Process:
- As there will be no on-campus instructions from March 16 to 20, instructors are asked to continue instruction online or to bridge missing content with alternative methods of teaching, such as independent projects.
- All finals will be take-home or online exams whenever possible.
- Students will need to contact their lecturers, and the student affairs office (icia@mahidol.ac.th), ASAP for further information on how to complete their coursework remotely.
WITHDRAWALS
Each host institution has its own policy regarding an academic withdrawal from a course(s), including its own deadlines for doing so. Generally, if a student withdraws from a course prior to the institution’s deadline, they will receive a “W” or withdrawal on their transcript. If they withdraw after the stated deadline, they may receive an “F” or fail on their transcript. Please check directly with your host institution to understand its policies and deadlines. All requests for withdrawals must be made directly with the host institution where you are enrolled for the Spring 2020 term.
