BUILD YOUR OWN PROGRAM
Fall semester programs are easy to match up to Fall/Trimester Dates. If your only time to go abroad is during Winter and Spring/Trimester, you’ll need to get a little creative when considering program dates. For example, you may want to consider one of our January program options and add on an internship at the end to create the perfect Winter Quarter/Trimester option. For more info on how to build your own personal study abroad program that meets your unique requirements, contact us sooner rather than later!

Understanding the exact amount of quarter/trimester units awarded for study abroad can be tough. Each foreign institution has their own way of doing things, as does each American institution we work with. But don’t worry! We can provide you with general guidelines to navigate the system.
A general guide:
- 1 semester credit is roughly equivalent to 1.5 quarter/trimester credits. One semester course is worth 3 semester credits or 4.5 quarter/
5 trimester credits - 12-24 semester credits are roughly equivalent to 18-36 quarter/trimester credits (For an exact number of credits, be sure to speak to your home institution, as some schools are more flexible with credits than others.)

“Besides pumping up my resume, these eight weeks have also opened my eyes to other cultures. I’ve fallen in love with learning about these cultures and I dream of someday traveling to their birth places. The biggest thing I will take away from this trip is a yearning to see the world.”
Jennifer Seki, UCLA
“When you travel abroad, do not compare yourself to others. This experience is all within yourself. If it is a country with a different language, do not worry that you are not as fluent as other students or that you may have not traveled as much as others. Your study abroad experience is like no one else’s–it is solely your own!”
Emily Wanous, Western Oregon University
