Once you’ve earned a micro-credential, share it widely across various social media platforms (think adding it to your LinkedIn profile), with your contacts, and the greater community – thus enhancing your professional profile. You can also list it on your resume, refer to it in your cover letters, and use it as a talking point during interviews to introduce the skills you have developed.
ABOUT THE Working Remotely Across Cultures MICRO-CREDENTIAL
This micro-credential documents that you’ve developed certain key competencies that the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has designated as being essential for new college grads. Specifically, it indicates to potential employers that you have demonstrated skills in the areas of:
Exercise sound reasoning to analyze issues, make decisions, and overcome problems. The individual is able to obtain, interpret, and use knowledge, facts, and data in this process, and may demonstrate originality and inventiveness.
Value, respect, and learn from diverse cultures, races, ages, genders, sexual orientations, and religions. The individual demonstrates openness, inclusiveness, sensitivity, and the ability to interact respectfully with all people and understand individuals’ differences.
Demonstrate personal accountability and effective work habits, e.g., punctuality, working productively with others, and time workload management, and understand the impact of non-verbal communication on professional work image. The individual demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior, acts responsibly with interests of the larger community in mind, and is able to learn from their mistakes.
Build collaborative relationships with colleagues and customers representing diverse cultures, races, ages, genders, religions, lifestyles, and viewpoints. The individual is able to work within a team structure and can negotiate and manage conflict.
REQUIREMENTS TO EARN THE WORKING REMOTELY ACROSS CULTURES MICRO-CREDENTIAL
Of course, there are specific requirements that must be met in order to earn this micro-credential, including:
Successfully completing each module of the Virtual Global Internship online curriculum (Self Brand, Working Across Cultures, and Reflection & Next Steps), including the tasks as outlined. The course instructor will be able to monitor your progress.
Completing all of your internship work hours and receiving a positive final evaluation from your virtual internship supervisor. The final evaluation will be submitted to the course instructor.
Actively engaging in the weekly Cultural Debrief sessions and check-ins with your course instructor. Your cultural facilitator and instructor will track participation.
Submitting a quality final summative reflection paper as well as the final video, presentation, or similar deliverable which presents the outcomes/results of your internship experience.
