Summer at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona offers an incredible opportunity for intensive study of the Spanish language, and for taking electives in your major, minor, or another area that interests you—all for credit at your home university. Class sizes are small to increase interaction with the professor, encourage academic rigor, and allow the international students to work together.
You may choose either 2 elective courses or one language class and one elective to complete the 6-credit course load. Courses are taught in Spanish or in English by local faculty, so you don’t need to start with any Spanish-language skills. All levels of proficiency are accommodated. Classes are Monday through Thursday, leaving plenty of time for exploring the city, visiting museums and galleries, and day tripping with fellow international students.
GPA Required: 2.5. If you find your GPA is lower than the requirement, do not despair! Use the "Contact An Advisor" button on this page or call us to let us know your situation. We'll do all we can to find the right program for you.
How to choose your courses
Now the fun part! As part of the application process you will be required to complete the CISabroad Course Selection Worksheet found in the CISabroad Application Page. The following instructions will guide you through the steps of choosing your courses.

*Please note that courses offered in the summer term are listed as “Su” in the University’s course guide, and 4.5 Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona credits are equal to 3 US credits.
* Please note, it is important to submit your course registration page (provided to you by CIS upon acceptance) as early as possible, as courses tend to fill up very quickly at UAB and your first choices may not be available if you delay too long. Please plan ahead to get your course choices approved at your home university so you can have them ready to submit after you are accepted to the program.
