Summer in Paris

Turn Paris into your classroom for 4 weeks this summer! Hone your painting, drawing, or photography skills in front of the Tour Eiffel and Notre Dame; improve your French as you order a baguette at your local café.

Paris is arguably the world’s most romantic and exciting city. While oozing history, the City of Light is also vastly influential today in the realms of fashion, design, art, food, and culture. Also dubbed the Capital of Fashion, Paris is home to some of the most luxurious fashion designs and cosmetics. While walking around Paris you can see many of the building and landmarks that reflect the city’s history of foreign invasions, conquests, and military disputes.  And with 12 million residents—2.2 million in the city center—there’s always something going on.

Paris is a major tourist destination, and it’s no wonder, with such sights as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral, and the Moulin Rouge, to name just a few. There are the museums, art galleries, gardens, and monuments. There’s the everyday beauty of Parisian life, the streets, and the Seine. And then there is Paris at night!

The city is divided into 20 districts (arrondissements) that form a clockwise spiral from the city center, so even though it is quite large, you will always have an easy point of reference. For those students that want to explore the city, France, and Europe, Paris has a system of transportation of bicycles, taxis, buses, trains, and airplanes that allow for easy traveling.
