Semester in Hawaii

Want to study and live minutes from the best beaches in the world? Take classes at a fantastic private university, learn more about the friendly “Aloha Spirit,” and explore rain forests, volcanoes, and deserted islands on the weekends.

As part of your Semester in Hawaii program, our on-site staff is there for the activities and for supporting the students. When you arrive, you will be met at the airport and taken to your accommodation. During the first few days after your arrival, you will take part in our Island Orientation Program, which includes a Welcome Luau and an introduction to Honolulu and Waikiki.

Throughout the semester, you can take part in cultural excursions and field trips that introduce you to the splendors of Oahu. A day at the Polynesian Cultural Center, rain forest hikes, reef snorkeling, and an Aloha (Farewell) Dinner are among the activities offered in the past.  All are fun activities to enjoy with the new friends you will make while studying in Hawaii!

To help balance your academic experience at the University, you will certainly want to take part in the many student activities, clubs, and organizations. At the beginning of each semester, the Student Life office organizes a club fair where every registered student organization on campus sets up a booth to attract new members. You’ll find 80-plus clubs that range from professional organizations to cultural societies to sports groups.  Each week the Office of Student Life publishes a bulletin that includes upcoming events, sports, seminars, and club news so you can stay up-to-date on what is happening around the campus.  In addition to these activities, you will also have access to a student union, cafeteria, athletic facilities and fields, and a campus bookstore.
