Semester in Thailand

Live in Bangkok, the heart of Indochina and a warm and friendly city. You’ll take classes with Thai and international students, study in English, and have plenty of time to ride elephants, explore ancient ruins, and venture into amazing jungles.

Semester in Thailand is based in Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok, which has a population of about 10 million. Bangkok has gained international renown as an independent, dynamic city synonymous with the exotic. It is a dominating force in Asian finance and business, and its far-reaching influence on politics, culture, fashion, and entertainment has earned it global-city status.

The city’s wealth of cultural landmarks, attractions, and notorious entertainment venues has created a shroud of mystery around the entire country. Nearly 11 million foreign visitors flock to Bangkok each year to explore the Grand Palace, the Vimanmek Palaca Complex, and the thousands of temples strewn about the city, and to experience the amazing international cuisine, pulsing nightlife, and extraordinary energy. For transportation, Bangkok offers buses, trains, a skytrain, vans, taxis, tuk-tuks (a form of 3-wheeled cart with a motorcycle front end), motorcycle taxis, river ferries, and a subway system which allows you to travel easily throughout the city and surrounding areas.

The weather in Thailand is warm all the time which means you can always visit the many jungles, beaches, artisan villages, and cultural and historical sites in Thailand.  Take a bike or a motorcycle taxi to class, indulge yourself with a Thai massage, ride an elephant, meet a friend downtown at Siam Square, or learn the martial art of Thai boxing. The country as a whole nearly overwhelms the senses. Whether you are exploring the cuisine, the tropical beaches on the coast, or the bustling markets, Thailand will be an unforgettable study abroad experience!
