As a CIS student, you‘ll get an extensive orientation upon arrival, and the staff of the University’s Study Abroad Office will assist you throughout your stay. This orientation includes a campus tour and introduction to life on campus, as well as a portion done outside the campus in the city of Limerick. You will learn practical things such as how to use the public transport to and from the campus and city, and also how to get involved with the many student clubs and organizations available. Each semester the University organizes an off-campus program to show you the "real" Ireland; among the fun excursions is a day trip to Dublin.
There are tons of ways to get involved and get to know your Irish classmates. Student life revolves around the Students Center Complex, which houses a student café, 2 pubs, a restaurant, a bookshop, a bank, the student health clinic, a laundry, and a grocery store. Anything you can think of needing is provided to you right on campus! The Student Union organizes activities for 70 clubs and societies which is a great way to get involved in something you’re interested in – or try something new! In addition, there is a comprehensive range of sports and recreation programs, meaning you will always have something to do.
Both the general public and professional athletes use the University Arena, which boasts Ireland’s National 50m Olympic-standard swimming pool. It also has the largest indoor sports hall in the country complete with cardio fitness suites, weight rooms, indoor track and basketball courts, group exercise classrooms and a health fitness clinic. And best of all, your membership to this incredible facility is included in your CIS program fee!
