The DCU Student Union is one of the most active in Ireland, with over 100 academic, cultural, and sports clubs and organizations. The on-campus facilities are great for relaxing outside of class. You will definitely find yourself meeting up with friends at the Hub, DCU’s student center. The Hub hosts pubs and cafés, a game room, a supermarket, and a book shop. There are also seven restaurants located throughout campus that offer affordable and healthy food options.
The nearby sports complex boasts a rock-climbing wall, a 25-meter pool, 3 full-size basketball courts, and an array of fitness equipment. You will have access to the University Sports Complex, Soccer Center and DCU Sport Grounds. You can also take advantage of the various work out facilities and exercise classes, another great way to meet friends!
However, much of student life takes place away from campus in the city of Dublin. With just over a million people, the city is a student’s dream. Great music, theater, shopping, and eating are all just a short bus or cab ride from the campus and your housing. Explore the history of Ireland throughout the various museums and National Libraries that Dublin has to offer. Or take a tour of Croke Park, one of the largest stadiums in Western Europe, home to Soccer, Rugby and Gaelic Football. Of course there is the never ending Irish music scene to discover, with nightly performances in pubs on every corner (and the entertainment is free!). Between city and campus, there will always be something exciting to do on Semester in Dublin.
