As a CIS study abroad student, you’ll get outstanding support. We’re with you every step of the way with academic advising, personal help, and cultural counseling. We’ll make sure that when you arrive in Prague, you hit the ground running. Don’t speak Czech? No problem. Student services at the University will help with the language barrier and assist you in getting acquainted to the city.
Your semester in Prague will begin with Orientation Week, which is organized by the CESP (Central and East European Studies Program) Office and Buddy System. You’ll get all the information you need about studying and living in Prague, plus take trips and attend cultural events. The week ends with Ice-Breaking Weekend—a favorite trip, because you meet and make friends with students from different cultures. Team-building activities, games, competitions, a costume party, a mini course in the Czech language, and possibly some trips will be prepared for you.
During the semester, you’ll have extensive opportunities to participate in activities with Czech and international students. You’ll have access to the campus gym and get 1 free pass to the Aqua Palace, the largest water park in Western Europe. The Buddy System plans lots of trips within the Czech Republic, plus international trips, language-exchange activities, parties, and sports activities. Also, Prague is a very vibrant city, with many places to grab a coffee and a delicious pastry (famous in Prague) with your new friends.
