Semester in Bendigo

Kangaroos on campus, life in a midsize Australian city, and a superb Outdoor and Adventure Education program! If you are looking for an authentic Aussie experience—wildlife included—then this is for you.

As part of Semester in Bendigo, you will take part in the 5-day Great Barrier Reef Culture and Adventure Program. Exciting excursions over land and sea introduce you to Aussie life! We’ll prepare you for the cultural changes you may encounter and give you a chance to experience the Great Barrier Reef up close. Plus, you will meet other study abroad students heading to La Trobe.

On campus, the International Programs Office provides a comprehensive orientation program for all international students. You’ll get all the tools you need to settle in quickly and make the most of your time in Bendigo and Australia.

Are you the athletic type? Numerous options will keep you fit and happy. La Trobe's sports facilities include a heated swimming pool, a gymnasium, tennis courts, basketball courts, and extensive sports fields.

Not into sports? No problem! The University has ample opportunities for you too! You can get involved with the radio station, political parties, environmental groups, a women's group, religious groups, and much more.

Joining a student club is the best way to find activities that fit your interests. The Bendigo Student Association organizes events such as Orientation Week for new students as well as on-campus sports, a trips & tours program and national competitions such as the National Campus Band Competition. Many clubs have booths during orientation week where you can talk to members and find out what they do. You can sign up there, contact a club committee member or (for most clubs) you can join at the BSA Info Center. It's a good idea to join at the start of the semester so you don’t miss out on the events, activities, exhibitions, and trips.
