Intern in Mexico offers custom internship placements in locations throughout the city during both the semester and the summer. Let us use our knowledge and experience to guide you through this unique career-building opportunity! To participate, you must speak Spanish at a high-intermediate level (4 college-level Spanish classes) or better and be studying in the field of the desired internship.
Semester internships
You will enroll in the Spanish-language program at Universidad Internacional, generally the 12-week program for 12 credits, and then you will take the internship elective for another 1–3 credits. Interns typically work 15 hours a week in the afternoons. Please visit www.cisabroad.com/mexicosemester for information on the 12-week Spanish language program at Universidad Internacional.
Summer internships
You will attend a 6-week, 6-credit intensive Spanish-language program at Universidad Internacional. The internship interview and assignment typically occur during the third week of classes. The internship itself lasts for the remaining 3 weeks and is fit in after your daily Spanish classes. You will work a total of 45 hours for 3 academic credits from the University, but you should check with your home institution to determine the number of credits they will recognize. Students usually receive 7–9 US credits for the whole program.

How to choose your courses
As part of the application process you will be required to complete the CIS Course Selection Worksheet found in the CIS Application Page. The following instructions will guide you through the steps of choosing your courses for the intensive Spanish- language program. You will apply for the internship through a separate online application.
Course load:
Semester internships: 13–19 US credits total
Intensive Spanish Language: 12 US credits for 12-week program, 16 US credits for 16-week program
Internship: 1–3 US credits, approximately 15 intern hours per week
Summer internships: 7–9 US credits total
Intensive Spanish Language: 6 US credits for 6-week program
Internship: 1–3 US credits, approximately 3 weeks of internship experience
Course approval: During the orientation at the University, written and oral placement exams will assess your Spanish so you can be enrolled at the appropriate level.
You should get ALL classes, including the internship, preapproved by your home institution. If taking electives, be sure to get more approved at home than you will actually take—we suggest at least 3 or 4—so you will have some flexibility during registration.

Helpful information
Please note that all potential internship students must submit an internship-specific online application, resume, and cover letter in addition to the regular CIS application. While we will do everything in our power to match you with your desired internship, final placement is always at the discretion of the internship organization.
