Triumph in Southern France

by Keith Born on June 27, 2012

Students from Ripon College in Wisconsin enjoyed a couple weeks in the culinary and cultural crossroads of southern France this past May. They traced the history of the mysterious and intriguing Cathars, a discontinued religious sect that built majestic castles and defiantly opposed the political agenda of the dominant Catholic church during the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries.

The group of nearly 30 Ripon College students, professors, and CISabroad staff enjoyed the lavender fields, beautiful beaches and colorful streets that make southern France so appealing. Below are just a few photos that attempt to frame the experience, including shots of (and on!) the Arc de Triomphe in Montepellier and the picturesque beach of Palavas-les-Flots. Enjoy!

Great group picture you guys. I still think it is missing one thing -FERGUS!!! Just a quick note to anyone who missed the news. Aury was hit by a car and was missing for 3 days. She somehow managed to drag herself home without the use of her back legs and tail. The good news is she is recovering well and can now climb on the sofa for much needed cuddles. Would really like to see some of you back at Sidsmums Travellers Retreat Hostel in Carcassonne. Hope CIS can make it back next year as well :)
