by Keith Born on April 18, 2012

CISabroad is happy to announce that our friends from "down under" will be visiting! The host university of the CISabroad Semester in Newcastle, the University of Newcastle, will be sending their phenomenal chamber choir stateside for a performance tour.

The University of Newcastle Chamber Choir is the top-ranking choir in Australia and 8th worldwide (Musica Mundi world rankings April 2011) from its excellent results in the 2010 World Choir Games held in Shaoxing, China. The Choir has also regularly wowed judges in national competitions across Australia.

Winners of the Channel 7 Battle of the Choirs, the Choir’s success and appeal to audiences is due to its fresh, energetic performances in music from the Renaissance to the 21st Century, including Queen, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones.

Under the baton of internationally renowned Director, Dr. Philip Matthias, the 40 member Choir includes University of Newcastle students, staff and members of the community.
